Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the liquid leakage resistance of a battery by using a sealing gasket, which is fused to a metal sealing plate, made of a mixture which principally consists of polyethylene or polypropylene and contains a given amount of an organic nitrosyl compound. CONSTITUTION:A mixture-like positive active material 2 is placed on the inner bottom of a metal case 1, and a separator 3 and a negative active material 4 made of a gel-like amalgamated zinc powder are placed over the material 2. After that, a metal sealing plate 5 is placed on the material 4, with a sealing gasket 6 interposed between the case 1 and the plate 5, to hermetically seal the battery, thereby a button-type battery being constituted. Here, the sealing gasket 6 is fused to the plate 5 before it is attached to the periphery of the case 1. As the sealing gasket 6, a mixture which principally consists of polyethylene or polyproplylene and contains an organic nitrosyl compound is used. The content of the organic nitrosyl compound should be 0.3-0.7wt% of the former mixture. As the organic nitrosyl compound, p-dinitrosotoluene, tetranitrosobenzene or the like is preferred.
