Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a novel compound having an anticomplementary activity action, by cultivating a novel fungus belonging to the genus Stachybotrys.
CONSTITUTION: A new fungus Stachybotrys sp. T-789 strain (FERM-P 3802) belonging to the genus Stachybotrys is inoculated into a nutritive medium and subjected to preferably submerged aerated spinner culture. A novel compound shown by the formula, 6,7-dihydroxy-2,5,5,8a-tetramethyl-1,2,3,4,4a,5,6,7,8,8a-decahydronaphthalene-1-spiro-2'-( 6', 7'-diformyl-4'-hydroxy-2', 3'-dihydrobenzofuran ) is collected from the culture solution.
