Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove the toner stuck to a cleaning brush, by securing a contact between the cleaning brush and a toner gathering means to which the voltage having the opposite polarity to the toner stuck to the brush. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning roller 10 having an earthed conductive brush 9 and a mesh type metallic cylinder 11 constitute a toner gathering means. This gathering means is provided to a cleaning device 7 that cleans the residual toner on the surface of a photoreceptor drum of an electrostatic copier, etc. The voltage 13 of the opposite polarity to the toner sticking to the brush 9 is applied to the cylinder 11, and this cylinder is turned by a drive roller 12. Thus the residual toner of the photoreceptor drum which stuck to the brush 9 is absorbed to the voltage of the opposite polarity to that of the toner and removed through a contact with the cylinder 11. This toner is then scraped off by a blade 14 and gathered into a pan 15. In such way, the brush 9 can always clean the photoreceptor drum with no soil at all.
