Abstract

PURPOSE: To reinforce an annular hollow body, to maintain a fixed shape and to attain convenience for forming a tire, by winding a reinforcing material on the peripheral surface of the annular hollow body.
CONSTITUTION: An annular hollow body 2 is placed in a split mold 6 for forming a tire. Air is introduced under pressure into the hollow body 2 through an air inlet port 8 to maintain a fixed shape. A liquefied rubber compound is injected into a cavity 9 in the split mold 6 through an injection port 7. The liquefied rubber compound flows in along the outside surface of the hollow body 2 and fills up the cavity 9 of the split mold 6. To prevent voids from being made in the body of the tire, air is introduced again under prescribed pressure into the hollow body 2 and the liquefied rubber compound is then set. Since a reinforcing material 5 impregnated with a liquefied rubber compound is previously wound on the outside of the hollow body 2, the reinforcing material 5 and the liquefied rubber compound introduced in the cavity 9 are integrally conjoined to each other when the introduced liquefied rubber compound is set. After the tire is molded, the air is discharged out of the hollow body 2 and the split mold 6 is released to take out the tire.
