Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the sealing degree of a rotor with respect to a stationary cylinder of a rotary type internal combustion engine by a method wherein when the rotor is provided with a plurality of vane sections partitioning the rotary piston into a plurality of sections and a plurality of labyrinth sections at the tips thereof and a lubricating oil is supplied to both of the vane sections and the labyrinth sections from the side of the rotary shaft of the piston.
CONSTITUTION: The rotary piston type internal combustion engine comprises the rotary piston 1 and the stationary cylinder 2 for receiving the piston 1 therein. The rotary piston 1 comprises a plurality of combustion chambers 6 arranged along the outer periphery of the piston and the same number of outer peripheral sections 7 partitioning the chambers 6. Further, the outer end of each of the outer peripheral sections 7 has a sealing section 8 which is formed of the labyrinth section 9, the vane section 10 and a cylinder section 11. In this case, a shaft 5 of the rotary piston 1 is provided with a lubricating oil feeding passage 16 drilled in the center of the shaft and a communication pipe 17 is provided between the passage 16 and the cylinder section 11. Further, a communication hole 18 is drilled in the center of each of the vane sections so as to communicate with the pipe 17 and with a concave section 9a of each of the labyrinth sections 9 through a slide joint 20 and a capillary hole 9b.
