Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a rare earth metal magnet having a high concentration and excellent magnetic characteristics at a comparatively low sintering temperature by using a high purity of metals or their oxides as raw materials in the manufacture of alloy powder from a rare earth metal element and other elements.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy powder composed of one or more of rare earth elements and one or more of Co, Fe, Cu, Ni, Mn, and Cr is manufactued. In this case, a 99.99wt% or more purity of the said metals or their oxides and the same purity of said rare earth elements are used as raw materials. The alloy powder thus obtained is molded in a magnetic field by a compression molding method, degassed, and then sintered under vacuum or in an inert gas. Thus, a magnet having a high density and excellent magnetic characteristics, e.g., high residual magnetic flux concentration and consistent coercive force, can be obtained at a comparatively low sintering temperature.
