Abstract

PURPOSE: A hypohalite salt and an acid are brought into contact with an aldoxime to effect its halogenation, thus producing the titled compound that is used as a raw material for producing an insecticide in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: An aldoxime of formula I (R is alkyl) is brought into contact with a hypohalite such as sodium hypochlorite or potassium hypochlorite and an acid such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid to effect its halogenation to the titled compound of formula II (X is halogen). The hypohalite is used usually by 0.5W2.0mol, preferably 0.8W1.2mol/mol of the aldoxime. The amount of the acid is in the range of the stoichiometric amount for neutralization of the hypohalite plusorminus 5%, preferably near the stoichiometric amount. When the hypohalite or the acid is present excessively in the reaction system, the aldoxime is decomposed and the product is reduced in stability, resulting in the yield.
