Abstract
PURPOSE: To free of undesired or delayed opening or closing motions of a reed valve disposed in a passage bypassing a supercharger by making up the reed valve of a thin plate which is fixed at one end and restored because of its potential elasticity when bent.
CONSTITUTION: An air is rushed from an air cleaner 6 toward a combustion chamber via a supercharger 7 coinciding with an operation of an engine 1. A bypass passage 12 is provided for deirctly communicating the air cleaner 6 with the combustion chamber, making no detour through the supercharger 7. A reed valve 13 is disposed in the bypass passage, restricting an air flow to run from the air cleaner to the combustion chamber. The reed valve 13 is a thin plate 18 fixed at one side and restored because of its potential elasticity when bent. In running of the engine 1, a high pressure P2 is produced in the chamber 4, while a pressure P1 in the air cleaner 6 is low. A pressure difference between the P2 and the P1 causes the thin plate 18 of the reed valve 13 to be pressed on a sheet 17 to close the bypass passage 12.
