Abstract
PURPOSE: A rolled sheet of synthetic resin is previously exposed to ionizing radiation and rolled up at low temperature, then dipped in a solution of reactive monomer to effect the reaction, thus producing uniform graft polymer inexpensively in a large amount.
CONSTITUTION: A rolled sheet of synthetic resin with a thickness of 10W200μ such as polyethylene film is sent at a constant speed and irradiated with ionizing radiation such as electron rays from an accelerator, then wound up in an inert atmosphere which is cooled with liquid nitrogen to 0W-70°C and preferably filled with an inert gas. Then, the irradiated sheet is dipped in a solution of a monomer having a functional groups such as acrylic acid to produce the objective graft polymer.
