Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic transfer sheet giving metallic thin film type magnetic recording media with good productivity by forming a magnetic metallic layer and a nonmagnetic metallic reinforcing layer in this order on a strippable conductive base material by a plating method. CONSTITUTION:A conductive protecting layer 2 consisting of a nonmagnetic metallic material such as nickel alloy, a magnetic metallic layer 3 consisting of a thin film of a magnetic alloy such as Ni-Co-P alloy, and a nonmagnetic metallic reinforcing layer 4 consisting of a nonmagnetic metallic material of a nickel alloy or the like are formed successively on a strippable conductive base material 1 consisting of stainless steel, copper, etc., by an electrolytic plating method, whereby an intended magnetic transfer sheet is obtained. In producing magnetic recording media from this magnetic transfer sheet, the layer 4 is adhered via an adhesive layer 5 on a base material 6 for magnetic recording media such as polyester film, thence the material 1 is stripped, by which the recording medium is produced without requiring surface treatment and the like for the material 6.
