PURPOSE:To enable smooth switching of a control system of a chassis dynamometer in correspondence with running of an actual car, by a method wherein, when the speed of the actual car is higher than a speed of a target car by a given value, the control system is switched from a running resistance control to a car speed control. CONSTITUTION:When a running pattern enters a deceleration area under a vehicle operating condition at a running resistance control mode, an actual car speed is higher than a target car speed corresponding to the deceleration area of the running pattern, and when the difference is set into a required brake condition being more than a given speed previously set, outputs of a detector SD for throttle opening degree 0, a Schmidt trigger circuit ST, and an AND circuit AND go to a 1 level to activate a dynamo controller DYC and a throttle controller SLC. As a result, a throttle is locked at a 0 opening degree, and a control mode of a chassis dynamometer is switched from a resistance control to a car speed control. This permits smooth switching of the control mode without motoring a vehicle by means of a dynamo.
