Abstract

PURPOSE: Wet-spinning, drawing, washing with water, drying under tension are followed by application of water and treatment with moisture heat under tension to produce acrylic synthetic fiber for making paper with good fiber splitting property in water and high heat resistance.
CONSTITUTION: Acrylic synthetic fiber is wet-spun, drawn, washed with water, dried under tension, then treated with moisture heat under tension at 100W140°C after application of water by 10W200wt% based on the fiber to give the objective fiber. The objective synthetic fiber is preferably composed of more than 80wt% acrylonitride and 0.3W1.2wt% copolymerizable monomer bearing sulfonic acid groups such as allylsulfonic acid or composed of more than 40wt% acrylonitrile and 10W 60wt% vinylidene chloride or vinyl chloride.
