Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the variation of reactive power and the increase of the reactive power, based on the variation of DC voltage or AC system voltage by connecting a separately excited type power converting apparatus for a booster in series with a power inverter to a DC power supply. CONSTITUTION:The separately excited type inverter 12, the separately excited type power converting apparatus 14 for the booster and a DC reactor 16 are connected in series with the DC power supply 10. The separately excited type inverter 12 and the separately excited type power converting apparatus 14 for the booster are connected to the AC system 20 through a transformer 18 for the converting apparatus. The separtely excited type inverter 12 is operated making fixed allowance angle control or a control lead angle, where the reactive power is minimized, constant while all variation of the output voltage of the separately excited type inverter 12 with the output voltage variation of the DC power supply 10 and the voltage variation of the AC system 20 are controlled so as to be compensated by means of the separately excited type power converting apparatus 14 for the booster.
