Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the influence by lateral pressure which exerts on an optical fiber, by providing a metallic cylinder having a spiral form, on the outside circumference of a light transmission body consisting of optical fibers and a covered layer. CONSTITUTION:A light transmission body 5 is constituted by providing a buffer layer and a secondary covered layer around one or plural optical fibers having a primary covered layer. To the outside circumference of this light transmission body 5, a metallic tape 6 such as an iron tape, etc. is wound spirally, also a metallic cylinder 6' is formed by butting both side edges of the tape 6, and the outside circumference of the optical transmission body 5 is covered with this metallic cylinder 6'. Since the metallic tape 6 can be bent in the winding direction in its elastic area, strength of stability in the direction enlarging its wound diameter is generated in the metallic cylinder 6', and a spring effect is always secured.
