Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect sound of water leakage, without being interferred with underground noise, by giving an ultrasonic wave to flowing water and detecting a distorted ultrasonic wave produced with the disturbance of the leaked water. CONSTITUTION:With accessories 3 such as hydrants and switching valves which are implanted in linking with an upward linking 4 of an underground water supply pipe 1 and exposed on ground, an ultrasonic wave oscillator 5 is fixed to emit ultrasonic waves to the accessories 3. Ultrasonic waves propagate a water supply pipe 1 as well as flowing water. A low frequency modulator 7 interrupts the output of an ultrasonic wave oscillator 5 and modulates puls pulsatively with a desired period. The ultrasonic waves propagate in flowing water and the waveform is disturbed with the turbulence of flow caused at a leaked part 13 and distorted ultrasonic waves are produced at water leaked part. This distorted ultrasonic wave is received at an ultrasonic wave receiver 10 of a leaked water sound detector 9, and the audible low frequency component included in the distorted wave is introduced to a receiver 12 to listen to the leaked water sound as audible sound.
