Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect an echo from an objective reflector securely by processing the signal with a maximum level of those received in receivable time as the echo from the objective reflector. CONSTITUTION:A pulse from a pulse generator 1 is modulated on a modulator 2 and transmitted into the sea through a cable transmitter 3. An echo is converted into an electric signal on a cable receiver 4 and sent to a detector 21 through amplifier 5 and A/D converter 20. A maximum value of the received signal is written in a memory 23, and a time whereat the signal exceeds a threshold value is written in a memory 26. A propagation time required for the ultrasonic signal to go to and from an objective reflector 10 is obtainable securely through reading information from the memory 26 after a lapse of receivable time.
