Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain recording of stable picture quality by controlling the amount of energy supplied to a heating element corresponding to the time interval in which picture element of one block is obtained, for example, by supplying a small amount of energy to the heating element for small time interval, to quickly control the state of heat storage of a thermal head to an appropriate condition. CONSTITUTION:A group selecting circuit 6 sends make signals sequentially to AND gates A216-A1 in synchronism with the reception of clock pulses (b) which is produced every completion of storing picture signals of one group in a shift register 5. The monomultivibrator 7a of a heat generating energy control circuit 7 is triggered with a record command pulse (a) so that a high-level output is provided for a time period d1. When the high-level output changes into a low-level output, a monomultivibrator 7b is triggered so that a high-level output is produced for a time period d2. When the one line recording period Tl is longer than d1+d2, an electric current is supplied to heating elements R1-R1728 for a long time DELTAT2, whereas an electric current is supplied to the heating elements R1-R1728 for a short time DELTAT1, when Tl is less than d1+d2.
