Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the electrode manufacturing process and prevent deterioration of the electrode pin surface by coating the exposed end of the electrode with a protective layer consisting of acid resistance conductors, while using Al and Cu alloys as electrode materials. CONSTITUTION:A number of linear discharge electrodes 3' and 4' consisting of Al and Cu alloys are spaced on the inside surface of glass substrates 1 and 2 at a regular interval and for example, dielectric layers 5 and 6 consisting of alumina are applied to the surface of these discharge electrode 3' and 4'. The glass substrates 1 and 2 are opposed through a frame 7 and a gas space 8 is formed. The surface of electrode pins 3 and 4 consisting of the Al and Cu alloys which are exposed and led out on the end of the surface of the glass substrates 1 and 2 is covered by a protective layer 9 consisting of acid-proof conductors, such as Cr plating layer and the like.
