Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain uniform discharging characteristic and to prevent the deterioration of characteristic, and also to improve the yield of discharge panels and their reliability, by placing a heat-resistant resin layer between the surface of dielectric layer contacting with the gas and a discharging electrode. CONSTITUTION:Many linear discharging electrodes 23, 24 are provided on each inner face of glass substrates 21, 22 with predetermined interval where dielectric layers 25, 26 composed of alumina are coated on the surface of said electrode. Heat-resistant resin layers 27, 28 composed of polyimide resin, for example, are formed on the surface of said dielectric layers 25, 26, where dielectric layers 29, 30 composed of alumina are formed through thin film method such as deposition on said resin layers 27, 28. Consequently the defective discharge characteristic due to the fault of coated dielectric member or the deterioration of characteristic during usage can be prevented resulting in the improvement of the yield of indication panel and the reliability.
