Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent dusts and the like from entering into an ink and prevent the properties of the ink from being changed due to evaporation of the ink, by providing a movable endless cover for an ink recovering trough. CONSTITUTION:A gutter 9 is reciprocated horizontally together with a scanning carriage 14. The ink recovering trough 15 is provided with an opening in the scanning direction so that an ink recovering pipe 191 extended from the gutter 9 can move horizontally. The trough 15 is also provided with the endless cover 16 which can be slidden along the outside periphery of the trough 15 by rollers 181-184 and has a hole for passing the pipe 191. When the gutter 9 is moved togethe with the scanning carriage 14, the cover 16 also slides together with them, and the ink is directed from the pipe 191 into the trough 15 and is fed to an ink tank through a recovering pipe 192.
