Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the commutation failure of an inverter due to the insufficient voltage of a commutation capacitor at the commutation starting time by arbitrarily setting the charging voltage of the capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A forward conversion rectifier 12 for converting the AC voltage into a DC voltage, and a series diode type inverter circuit 14 for converting the DC to AC by applying the output of the rectifier 12 to a DC reactor 13 are provided, and the prescribed bias signal is added to the current control signal of the converter 12 to secure the charged voltage of the communtation capacitor of the inverter circuit 14. Since the initial charging voltage can be arbitrarily set in this manner, it can prevent the communtation failure due to the insufficient initial charging voltage of the inverter circuit, thereby stablilizing the variable speed power source in starting.
