Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled adhesive having excellent adhesive force, by blending an org. peroxide with an unsaturated polyester resin.
CONSTITUTION: A polybasic acid component composed of an unsaturated dibasic acid such as maleic anhydride, or a major portion of said dibasic acid and a minor portion of a satd. dibasic acid such as succinic acid, is reacted with a polyhydric alcohol such as ethylene glycol. Then a polymerizable unsaturated monomer such as styrene is added to the reaction mixture to produce an unsaturated polyester resin (A). Then at least 3.5pts.wt. org. peroxide (B) such as benzoyl peroxide is blended with 100pts.wt. above resin (A).
EFFECT: When this adhesive is cured by heating, the surface of thermoplastics is oxidized by an excess of the org. peroxide which is not used for the curing reaction. Thus, said surface is made to have good adhesiveness, and a remarkably high adhesive force is produced.
