Abstract

PURPOSE: A polyester composition, obtained by incorporating a halogenated polycarbonate flame retardant with antimony trioxide and an epoxy compound, and having remarkably improved heat resistance, electrical and mechanical characteristics.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. Thermoplastic polyester is incorporated with 5W40 pts.wt., preferably 8W25pts.wt., halogenated bisphenol type copolymerized polycarbonate oligomer expressed by formula I [X is bromine or chlorine atom; R is alkylene, carbonyl, -O-, -S- or -SO2-; p is an integer 1W5; m and n are integers satisfying 0.75<(Mm×m)/(Mm×m+Mn×n)<0.99 and 3≤m+n≤50; Mm is the weight of the compound expressed by formula III], and Mn is the weight of the compound expressed by formula III], 1W20pts.wt. antimony trioxide, 0.1W10 pts.wt., preferably 0.2W5pts.wt., mono- or diepoxy compound. The addition of a stabilizer reduces the thermal discoloration, and the addition of a stearate salt improves the moldability.
