Abstract

PURPOSE: To have a proper control of cooling the high-temperature part of a cylinder liner by separating the cooling water system of the cylinder line of an internal combustion engine into two separate systems, i.e., above and below the liner, and by regulating the temp. and quantity of water by signals from a temp. sensor provided at the liner.
CONSTITUTION: The cooling water is fed to the gap between cylinder liner 1 and cylinder jacket 2 by sending the circulative water to the cooler 7 by a pump 8. The cooling water duct B provided at the upper part of cylinder liner shall be a separate system, and a pressure regulator valve 13 and a temp. regulator valve 14 are controlled on the basis of signals from a temp. sensor b to have a proper temperature at cylinder liner. Thus the cooling water for the cylinder liner 1 is applied through two systems, A and B, and adjustment of the temp. and amount of water can be made independently, so that the pressure 13 and temp. 14 regulator valves are adjusted according to the signal from the temp. sensor 6 and, thus, the temp. at the upper part of cylinder liner can be maintained at the optimum value.
