Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the rigidity and water proofing characteristic of the cabinet of a flat plate type solar energy collector by integrally forming at least two sides which constitute two sides at the corner of a square and an upper side in continuation with these two sides forming a cabinet body.
CONSTITUTION: The cabinet 20 to house a heat insulative material 4 and a heat collecting member 3 is constituted by the cabinet body 21 made by the squeeze molding technique, a bottom plate 23 to close a bottom opening 22, and two pairs of end plates 24 and 25 arranged therearound. The cabinet body 21 is constituted by the press molding technique by a side surface 21a, a packing mounting surface 21b, a bottom plate mounting surface 2c and a caulking end 21d. These end plates 24 and 25 are mounted at one end on the bottom plate mounting surface 21c and fixed there by caulking the end 21d. These end plates 24 and 25 are not overlapped with each other but separated to define a gap which is filled with a sealing agent. The front opening 30 of the cabinet 20 is closed by a transmitting member 33 such as glass through the packing 31.
