Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the quantity of heat necessary for reaction of gas conversion suppliable only with the quantity of combustion heat of gaseous raw materials by providing a conversion cylinder for an atmosphereic gas generator used in a treatment furnace contg. gaseous atmosphere as a heating and a generator for gaseous atmosphere to the temp. raising part of a heating furnace. CONSTITUTION:Hydrocarbon 10 and air 8 are burned to evolve heat by a burner 5 provided at one end of a conversion cylinder having an inside cylinder 2 and an outside cylinder 3 enclosed by a heat insulating material 1 of a gaseous atmospheric gas generator, and the combustion gas passed through the cylinder 2 is introduced into the intermediate part of the cylinder 2 and the cylinder 3 packed with catalysts 4. At the same time, the additive gaseous hydrocarbon is introduced through a gas feed pipe 11 into the combustion gas and is mixed therewith. While the mixed gases are passing through the packed part of the catalysts 4, the steam and gaseous CO2 in the combustion gas are reduced bythe gaseous hydrocarbon to H2 and CO and are converted to the gaseous atmosphere from exothermic type gas to endothermic type gaseous conponent(s). The temp. necessary for this conversion reaction can be supplied only by the quantity of combustion heat of the gaseous raw materials and thermal efficiency is high.
