Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R is H, methyl or ethyl; X is carboxy, carboalkoxyl, amido or cyano).
EXAMPLE: p-(o-Carboxybenzylidene)-amino-phenylacetonitrile.
USE: A synthetic intermediate for indoprofen or a derivative thereof, useful as an anti- inflammatory agent and analgesic agent, and having the anti-inflammatory and analgesic action inself.
PROCESS: An o-phthalaldehydic acid expressed by formula II is reacted with an aniline derivative expressed by formula III in a solvent, e.g. methanol or ethanol, at room temperature or under heating to give the compound expressed by formula I.
