Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a resin, capable of giving processed articles of high quality, and having improved dispersibility in a plasticizer with little impurities, by extracting an aqueous dispersion of vinyl chloride resin for paste processing with a specific organic liquid, and drying the resultant extracted resin.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An aqueous dispersion containing preferably 10W80wt% vinyl chloride resin for paste processing is mixed with (B) an organic liquid, e.g. butane or hexane, which will not dissolve the resin substantially and is slightly soluble in water usually at about 20W70°C to transfer the resin to the organic liquid phase. The aqueous phase is then removed by the centrifugation, etc., and the resin particles captured in the organic liquid phase are dried to remove the liquid (B) and adhesive moisture. The volume of the liquid (B) must be equal to or less than that of the liquid (A) and 15pts.vol. or more, based on 100pts.vol. resin.
