Abstract

PURPOSE: An aqueous dispersion of vinyl chloride resin to be processed into paste is treated with a plasticizer or with both of a plasticizer and an organic solvent to remove water from the product, thus giving the high-quality resin paste sol without heating and drying steps.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous dispersion containing 25W80wt% of vinyl chloride resin that is obtained by polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer or a monomer mix mainly containing the same in an aqueous medium and is to be processed into paste is mixed with 20W1,500pts.wt. of a plasticizer and 0W40pts of an organic solvent per 100pts of the vinyl chloride resin. The addition causes the vinyl chloride resin to shift into the plasticizer layer or mixture layer thereof with the organic solvent, resulting is separation of the aqueous layer. Then, dehydration is effected to give the vinyl chloride resin paste sol. Heating and drying steps can be eliminated and the deterioration can be prevented in the quality of the paste sol.
