Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the production of red water without charging a chemical agent by circulating a plating soln. through a water pipe after removing rust so as to form a zinc coat on the inner wall of the pipe.
CONSTITUTION: Red rust in each pipe 9 is thoroughly removed with a washing pipe, and the pipe 9 is well washed and dried with warm air so as to adjust the internal temp. of the pipe to the chemical reduction plating temp. of zinc. A plating soln. 12 in a vessel 2 heated with a heater 3 in a casing 1 is injected into the pipe 9 with a pump 4 and returned to the vessel 2 through a circulation pipe 10. The composition of the soln. 12 consists of 30g/l ZnSO4, 30g/l arsenic oxide, 60g/l NaH2PO2, 7.5g/l NaOH, 60g/l NH3, 60g/l NaCN and 60g/l sodium citrate. When the internal temp. of the pipe 9 reaches about 80W90°C, zinc is deposited by reduction on the inner wall of the pipe to form a plated layer having the desired thickness.
