Abstract

PURPOSE:To save a boronizing agent and permit partial formation of a boronized layer by dissolving the powder of the boronizing agent in volatile liquid, coating the same on the surface to be boronized and allowing the same to dry thoroughly then subjecting the same to heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:Powder of a boronizing agent is dissolved in volatile liquid such as water or alcohol. This soln. is uniformly coated only on the prescribed surface of the object to be boronized. Thence, it is allowed to dry naturally and thoroughly at room temp., after which it is subjected to heat treatment whereby a boronized layer is formed on the surface to be boronized of the metal.
