Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a titled unidirectional electrical steel plate of improved watt loss in a rolling direction by hot rolling a steel ingot or continuously cast slab contg. <=4.5% Si, then rolling the same with special grooved rolls during cooling followed by rolling with smooth rolls. CONSTITUTION:A steel ingot or continuously cast slab contg. <=0.08% C, 4.5%- substantially 0% Si, and a sulfide or nitride as a primary recrystallization grain suppressing agent is hot rolled, whereby a hot rolled coil is made. Next, this hot rolled coil is subjected to precipitation annealing at 950-1,200 deg.C as required then to primary quench rolling at 81-95% drafts. At this cold rolling, the coil is rolled with rolls having parallel grooves in the rolling direction for at least one pass of the initial period of cold rolling, and ordinary smooth rolls are used in the other passes. The pitch of such roll grooves is regulated at 1-10mm. and the depth at <=1mm.. As a result, the unidirectional electrical steel plate of superior watt loss having the crystals of (h, k, o)[001] bearing is obtained.
