Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a platinum alloy for an ornamental product with excellent mechanical strength and casting property by compounding Pt, Pd, Co and one or more of Sn, In, Ga in a specific amount.
CONSTITUTION: Said Pt alloy for an ornamental product comprises, in the W/O basis, 84W96 Pt, 1W13 Pd, 0.01W1 Co and 1.5W5 one or more of Sn, In, Ga. A content of Pd is pref. 1W13 W/O from a standpoint of mechanical strength, a cost, corrosion resistance, casting property or the like and, when an adding amount of Co is below 0.01 W/O, enhancement of mechanical strength and casting property is low and, when exceeds 1 W/O, discoloration is generated or sweat resistance is lowered when annealing is carried out in the air. One or more of Sn, In, Ga is added for the reason that said elements form an intermetallic compound with pt and mechanical strength is enhanced.
