Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a pressure-sensitive recording sheet which has an uniformly- coated surface, by a method wherein a free fall perpendicular curtain is formed using an applying liquid, in whch physical properties, such as static surface tension, is adjusted into several values, to produce the pressure-sensitive recording sheet.
CONSTITUTION: Through addition of a surface active agent to a liquid, whose main component is a microcapsule, being covered with a high molecular cell material being insoluble in both water and an oily liquid, and in which the microcapsule is dissolved or dispersed together with a binder and a protective agent, an oily liquid, in which a basic colorless color former is dissolved, is adjusted so that the static surface tension of the liquid is below 42dyne/cm, a rise in a surface tension from a static surface tension due to a surface expansion is below 5dhne/cm, and the passage through 50-mesh screen is 98%. The applying liquid 1 so obtained is caused to flow out through a slit 6 as it is fed to a tank 2 by means of a quantative pump to form a free fall perpendicular curtain being uniform in the direction of a width. Air current is shut off by an air-shielding plate 11 to convey a web 9 and the applying liquid 1 is applied to the web 9.
