Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain the tension of the laminated substrate material in contact with a revolving roll and to prevent the trouble such as paper cut by a method wherein, the laminated substrate material of glass unwoven cloth and the like is travelled maintaining contact with a revolving roll in the status that the lower part of the roll is kept immersed in the varnish contained in the tank.

CONSTITUTION: The laminated substrate material 1 of paper, glass unwoven cloth, glass woven cloth, and the like is travelled maintaining contact with the roll 3 which is rolling with its lower part being immersed in the varnish contained in the varnish tank 2, through a braking roll 5, and tension detecting roll 4', 4, 4", and thus the travelling substrate material 1 is immersed with varnish. The detection of the tension of the substrate material 1 actuates the braking roll 5 being driven by an air-brake and the like, whereby, the tension of the substrate material 1 at the time of contact with the revolving roll 3 is controlled, maintaining said tension within the range ±10% of the predetermined value at all times. The pressing roll 7 maintains pressing of the substrate material at a constant contact angle against the revolving roll 3, and performs the function of immersing the varnish into the substrate material at a constant amount.
