Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover metals easily and efficiently through simple eperation by inserting electrodes into the 1st soln. in which recovered metal is dissolved and the 2nd solution without contg. this metal, and feeding gaseous hydrogen into the 2nd soln.
CONSTITUTION: A tank 1 is partitioned to 2 chambers A, B by a cation exchange membrane 2 which selectively permeates hydrogen ions. An acidic soln. 3a is put into the chamber A and a soln. 3b contg. metallic ions into the chamber B. Electrodes 4a, 4b connected by a conductor 5 are immersed respectively into the solns. 3a, 3b, to allow platinum black to form on the electrode 4a. The electrode 4b is of a mesh shape. Gaseous hydrogen is released via a lead-in pipe 7 into the slon. 3a through a blow out port 6 to allow electrons and hydrogen ions to generate. The electrons from the electrode 4a pass through the conductor 5 and reach the electrode 4b and attract the metallic ions near the electrode 4b to the electrode 4b, thereby depositing metal on the meshed electrode 4b. The hydrogen ions pass through the membrane 2 and bind to the anions in the chamber B.
