Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a wheel velocity sensor responsive only to the normal rotation, not sensitive to the rattling of the shaft by processing signals in a slightly deviated phase of slits between the inner and outer circumferences of a rotary disc. CONSTITUTION:Slits on the inner circumference side of a rotary disc 1 are delayed by 9 deg. in the phase with respect to the outer side so that the tail of the slits A overlaps the head of the slits B. Passing through the slits, light is converted into pulse trains a and b deviated in the phase with photoelectric converters 14 and 15 radially arranged in parallel and constitute four codes according to an H-L combination of pulses trains a and b with a clock pulse generator 16. When the clock pulse corresponding to each code matches the code sequence of the normal rotation, a shift register 17 shifts and a normal rotation detecting circuit 20 is triggered to open a gate 24 whereby a speed pulse is sent out from shift registers 21 and 22.
