Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the structure, reduce the size and maintain the detecting precision for a prolonged time period by a method wherein tooth-shaped projections and a projection-free portion are provided on a single rotary disc, and two-phase signals are detected by two magnetic reluctance element sensors.
CONSTITUTION: The tooth-shaped projections 2 are provided at pitches (a) on the outside periphery of the rotary disc 1 made of magnetic material, and the projction- free portion 3 is provided at the portion corresponding to the reference position of a rotary shaft 1A. The magnetic reluctance element sensors 4A, 4B are located at predetermined pitch from each other. The two-phase voltage waveforms having a phase difference are obtained by the sensors 4A, 4B. The outputs of the sensors 4A, 4B are subjected to wave shaping by comparators 8A, 8B, the resulting main signal MS and sub-signal SS are arithmetically operated in a logical circuit 9, and the rotational position can be detected through the reference position signal ZRS and the compensated rotation angle signal CMS. Accordingly, the structure is simplified, the size is reduced, and the detection precision is maintained for a prolonged period of time.
