Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce shock under high speed running and slip in acceleration period by determining and controlling the operation condition during the speed change in accordance with the magnitude of current during sliding clutch condition.
CONSTITUTION: A driving plate 6 and a driving member 8 are rotating with the crank shaft 5, and electromagnetic powder sealed in the powder chamber 12 is shifted suitably to the internal circumference of the driving member 8 by way of the centrifugal force. Then, when ekectric current is fed from lead wire Y through a brush 16, a slip ring 14 and lead wire X to the coil 7, the driving member 8 is excited, and also causes to yield mangetic flux around the driven member 10, and collects magnetic powder in the gap 11, causing to couple driving member 8 to the driven member 10 and thus allows the power of engine shaft 5 to be transferred to shaft 9.
