Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable quick starting, by providing a reservoir valve in a passage which connects a cylinder to a mixture reservoir provided in a cylinder head and by conducting a residual mixture to the cylinder during the compression stroke to utilize the temperature of the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture reservoir 10 is provided in a cylinder head 17. A reservoir valve 16 is provided in a passage which connects the reservoir 10 to a cylinder 2. The reservoir valve 16 is coupled through a rod 7 to an electromagnetic actuator 8 which is regulated by a controller 9. When a signal from a temperature sensor 6 for an intake pipe 5 shows that the temperature in the pipe 5 is not higher than a prescribed level, the controller 9 acts to generate an output signal throughout the compression stroke detected by a crank angle sensor 15, to energize the electromagnetic actuator 8 so that the reservoir valve 16 is opened.
