Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of spatter in an MIG welding machine that uses high-frequency electric power source by providing a controlling circuit that turns output of high frequency electric power source off while welding current is being detected and thereby making noncontact ignition and reignition.
CONSTITUTION: When high-frequency electric power source 8 is made on by driving a controlling circuit 14, high-frequency discharge occurs between a wire 2 and base metal 4 and a welding arc 7 is generated. Welding current is monitored always by a detector 13, and when welding current becomes zero by arc blow, the controlling circuit 14 issues a signal to turn high-frequency power source 8 on, and welding arc 7 is reignited quickly through high-frequency discharge. Since this controlling circuit 14 has a function to turn high-frequency power source off when welding current is turned on, by turning, discrimination of on or off of welding current and instruction of on or off to high-frequency power source in sequence, the arc is reignited after a specified time even if welding current is interrupted once.
