Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a mold of superior strength in a short time by using plup waste liquor and thermosetting resins having prescribed ratios and amounts as a binder to be added at a prescribed amount in order to make refractory particles such as silica sand into molding sand.
CONSTITUTION: A binder is added at ≤6pts. to 100pts. refractory particles such as silica sand, and these are kneaded. A binder for this, pulp waste liquor and thermosetting resins are used and the ratio of both is kept at 0.1W1. The pulp waste liquor (sulfite pulp waste liquor, alkali pulp waste liquor) is limited at 2W5pts. and the teermosetting resins (phenolic resins, urea resins) at 0.5W3pts. based on 100pts. the refractory particles. The molding sand obtained in the above-mentioned manner is blown into a heated metallic mold and is molded and solidified.
