Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain stable optical coupling at a low loss by putting a pair of lenses into a receptacle, and constituting one of them movable. CONSTITUTION:A pair of distributed index lenses 8 mounted in lens holding pipes 9 are inserted into the fitting hole 7a of the plug 3 of a receptacle 7. On the other hand, the one pipe 9 is fixed to the receptacle 7 by means of a C-shaped spring 11, and the other pipe 9 is supported by a coil spring 10 and is movable in an optical axis direction. Now, when the card side plug 3 is inserted into the hole 7a of the receptacle 7, it is pressed to the pipe 9. In spite of some deviation in the insertion position of the plug 3 forward or backward, the pipe 9 is supported by the coil spring 10 and therefore it is fixed in contact with the plug 3 and this decreases optical connection fluctuations and lowers the loss. Hence, with such constitution, the stable optical coupling of a low loss is obtained.
