Abstract

1481290 Optical fibre connectors INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 4 May 1976 [9 May 1975] 18152/76 Heading G2J A coupling device for optical fibres comprises a sleeve 10 having a central portion 12 of reduced diameter within which is postioned a transparent, non-rigid spacer member 18. The ends of the sleeve 10 are externally screw-threaded at 32, 34. An optical fibre bundle is secured in each end of the sleeve by means of an internally screwthreaded clamp 36, 38 which encircles the bundle and is screwed on to the sleeve, a projection 40, 42 on the clamp engaging a holding ring 28, 30 on the bundle and so urging the fibre ends against the spacer 18. The inner surface of the central portion 12 may be reflective.
