Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily obtain a steel material of high Young's modulus adapted to automobiles and the like by controlling conditions such as temp. and draft of hot rolling, draft of cold rolling, and the like in rolling specific mild steels and high tensil steels for structural service.
CONSTITUTION: In rolling of mild steels and high tensile steels for structural service of which the Ar3 is ≤780°C, hot rolling is carried out between Ac1 transformation point W1,350°C. In this finish rolling stage, the draft from ≤780°C down to Ar3 is kept at ≥5% the initial thickness and the draft below AR3 is kept at up to 5%. After the end of hot rolling, the steels are cooled to the range from ≤700°C down to ordinary temp. and are cold-rolled at≥2% draft. Further, if necessary, they are subjected to annealing at ≤Alc1+100°C. By this method, the rolled-texture of high rates of aggregation is easily made and the Young's modulus in the direction perpendicular to rolling is improved.
