Abstract
PURPOSE:To demagnetize a magnetic unit having large coercive force in a short time by rotating the magnetic unit to be demagnetized in a DC magnetic field and reducing the intensity of the DC magnetic field via the value larger than the coercive force of the magnetic unit toward zero, thereby eliminating the influence of its inductance. CONSTITUTION:A core 1 is composed of a yoke 1a and magnetic poles 1b, 1c, which are opposed via an air gap 4 in the yoke 1a, and coils 2 are wound thereon. A magnetic unit 3 to be demagnetized is rotatably disposed in the air gap 4, is rotated in the direction of the arrow, a direct current I is flowed through the coil 2, is so controlled that the current I reaches the maximum value Im for generating the magnetic field larger than the coercive force of the magnetic unit 3, and is gradually reduced thereafter toward zero. Then, magnetic field +H and -H of similar current waveform to the current I between the gap 4, thereby eliminating the influence of its inductance, and the magnetic unit having large coercive force can be demagnetized in a short time.
