Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a high strength and low thermal expansion alloy with a low coefft. of thermal expansion over a wide temp. range and superior strength and fatigue characteristics by adding a specified percentage each of C, N, Ni, Ta and/or Nb, and Si, Mn and Cr in total to Fe.
CONSTITUTION: This high strength and low thermal expansion alloy consists of ≤0.05% C, ≤0.010% N, 35.0W50.0% Ni, 1.5W5.0% Ta and/or Nb, 1.0% Si+ Mn+Cr and the balance essentially Fe. It has ≥100kg/mm2 tensile strength at ordinary temp., satisfactory fatigue resistance represented by toughness with ≥20 twisting value and ≤7×10-6/°C coefft. of thermal expansion over the wide temp. range of 30W300°C.
