Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the resuming of additive charging possible by blowing gaseous oxygen at the time when a nozzle for additives provided to a degassing treatment vessel or the like for molten steel is closed by solidified steel while not in use, thereby melting the solidified steel and opening the nozzle hole.
CONSTITUTION: Reflux pipes 2, 2' of a degassing vessel 1 are immersed into the molten steel 4 in a vessel 3, and the molten steel is circulated into the vessel 1, whereby it is degassed. At this time, additives such as desulfurizers, heat raising agents and the like are added from a nozzle 5 into the molten steel 4 by an inert gas to be supplied by opening a valve 7. After the end of the addition, the inert gas is kept blown through the nozzle 5 in order to prevent the molten steel 4 from backflowing into the nozzle 5. The molten steel near the nozzle 5 is cooled by the inert gas and solidifies to close the nozzle 5, thereby making the resuming of charging of the additives infeasible. At this time, the valve 7' is opened to feed oxygen and melt the solidified steel, thereby making the resuming of the additive charging through the nozzle 5 feasible.
