Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the liquid-leakage resistance of an alkaline battery by using a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid as a sealing agent for a sealing part. CONSTITUTION:A positive can 5 is packed with a positive mixture 1 principally consisting of argentous oxide, and a separator 3. A negative current collecting body 6 is packed with a negative agent 4 made of an amalgamated zinc. The body 6 is fitted into the opening of the positive can 5, with an annular gasket 7 interposed between the can 5 and the body 6, to seal the battery, and the whole constitutes a button-type alkaline battery. A film 9 made of a sealing agent is formed in the contact surface between the body 6 and the gasket 7. The sealing agent for the film 9 is a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid. The thickness of the film 9 is preferred to be 0.003-0.06mm..
