PURPOSE: To avoid the overlap of an exhaust and a suction stroke working chambers and improve the firing characteristic of a rotary piston engine, by open an intake port for a light load in one of side housings and intake ports for medium load and heavy load in the other side housing, and the like.
CONSTITUTION: An intake port 10 for a light load including an idle load is opened in one 2a of the side housings of a rotary piston engine, and an intake port 11 for a medium load and an intake port 12 for a heavy load are opened in the other side housing 2b. Then, the port 10 is connected to an independent primary intake passage 25 having a primary throttle valve 27, and the ports 11, 12 are connected to a secondary intake passage 26 having a common secondary throttle valve 28. Furthermore, the ports 10, 11 are set so as to open after an exhaust port closes and close together at the same time, the port 12 is set so as to close at a time delayed by a set value from the closing time of the port 10, and a control valve 17 opening at the heavy load time is arranged on the port 12.
